1 Mile Walk, sponsored by Charm City Run, allows participants to either run or walk around Baltimore’s Patterson Park with their 4-legged friends while raising funds for the four-legged animals at BARCS. Following the 5K run, BARCStoberfest offers entertainment, food, activities, pet contests and informative pet exhibits.
The run will be paced by the WoofDriver, dog powered sporting lifestyle expert. WoofDriver focuses on new and exciting ways to exercise, train, and spend time with your dog. Called “Furwheeling”, it incorporates sports such as hiking, biking, sledding, carting, rollerblading and skiing, but when they become dog-powered, take on new dimensions and challenges. Watch Bill “WoofDriver” Helman, a local Baltimore dog lover and extreme dog sporting enthusiast, lead the race with his team of four Husky’s attached to a state-of-the-art, electric-powered wheeled dog sled.
The WoofDriver will be at BARCStoberfest to promoteWalk for a Dog ℠ , a new iPhone free app that raises money for the local shelter of your choice every time you walk your dog. Go to WoofTrax.com to learn more about this revolutionary new Dog-Powered fundraising tool for animal shelters, featuring BARCS in Baltimore.
The 5K race begins at 11 AM on the Pagoda side of Patterson Park followed by BARCStoberfest at the conclusion of the Run/Walk. The festival features pet contests (including costume) with local celebrity judges, pet health and welfare specialists, pet blessing, pet micro-chipping, stage entertainment, food vendors, local artists, silent auction, raffles, other area animal rescues and many other exhibits.
