Ride-Sharing Service Lyft to Launch Tonight in Baltimore

| October 17, 2013 | 0 Comments

Lyft_logoLyft, a ride-sharing service, will launch tonight in Baltimore with a kickoff party from 6-10pm at the Baltimore Museum of Industry. Baltimore is the 16th city and 3rd major market on the East Coast for Lyft, which is described as ‘your friend with a car.’

Here is a description of Lyft from their website:

Drivers are matched with passengers who request rides through the Lyft iPhone or Android app. Drivers are screened with DMV and background checks, and Lyft’s platform has a first-of-its-kind $1M per occurrence excess liability insurance policy. Once a ride is complete, passengers are prompted to donate seamlessly through the app.

And, here’s information about their Baltimore launch from their blog:

We’re thrilled to bring the pink mustache to Charm City, where we’ve already seen powerful support throughout the city’s many neighborhoods.

Baltimore’s founding drivers are an awesome bunch, including the leader of a local cover band and several teachers, artists and students. In true Lyft fashion, we’re bringing the community together for a launch party tonight to celebrate and promote friendship, creativity and safe, affordable rides home. Local Baltimore charity Art with a HeART will be joining in on the fun by showcasing some recent mustache-inspired crafts from children across the city. We will also be matching all driver donations from opening weekend as a thank you for all the work that Art with a HeART does for the Baltimore community.

Starting at tomorrow morning, Lyft will available to all users across Baltimore from Charles Village to Inner Harbor seven days a week, starting at 7am on weekdays and 9am on weekends, and until 3am on Friday and Saturday nights.

Flash your Lyft app when you enter the door tonight and they will send you a $50 credit to try out your first few Lyft rides for free.
