United Way Moving to 30,000 Sq. Ft. Space at Montgomery Park

| August 3, 2016 | 0 Comments

Previously agreeing to a letter of intent to purchase an approximately 35,000 sq. ft. condominium at a new Stadium Square office building on the 100 block of W. Ostend St., United Way of Central Maryland will now lease an approximately 30,000 sq. ft. space at Montgomery Park Business Center at 1800 Washington Blvd. near Pigtown, Carroll-Camden, and Morrell Park. Montgomery Park, which was redeveloped in the early 2000s, is a 2.2 million sq. ft. complex on 52 acres of land.

Renovations of the space will be made to fit United Way’s needs and the organization is expected to make the move in Spring 2017. It currently has an office downtown at 100 S. Charles St.

United Way provided the following statement to SouthBMore.com: “United Way of Central Maryland recently decided to lease office space at Montgomery Park because it makes more sense for us to lease than to buy. Montgomery Park accommodates our current space needs and allows for flexibility. We are excited to be in a neighborhood where we can help make an impact. As an organization, our primary focus has shifted from fundraising to community service programs with a concentration on education, employment, housing and health.”

Arsh Mirmiran of Caves Valley Partners (CVP), the master developer of Stadium Square, did not offer any comment on United Way’s decision but told SouthBMore.com that CVP is currently in negotiations with potential tenants for its under-construction office building on the 100 block of W. Ostend St.
