Anthem House Celebrates its Grand Opening

Anthem House celebrated its grand opening last night, showing off the new $100-million Locust Point building to neighbors, media, and friends and family of the project team. The development team is a partnership between Bozzuto, War Horse Cities, and Solstice Partners. The property was formerly a General Electric site and a retail building.

The nine-story building, which is now 99% complete according to Bozzuto, includes 292 apartments, 449 parking spaces, and 20,000 sq. ft. of ground floor retail. The retail will include a 3,000 sq. ft. fitness studio for The Bar Method, a 2,000 sq. ft. coffee and craft beer restaurant named Amber, and a Korean fried chicken restaurant and bar named Jazz + Soju. More retail tenants will be announced in the future.

Anthem House’s resident amenities include a terrace with a pool overlooking the harbor; a large, elevated park space overlooking Fort Ave. and the Port of Baltimore; many common spaces including a fourth-story club room; a large fitness center; and a dog run.

The building also features murals by Annapolis-based artist Jeff Huntington. There is a large mural of Billie Holliday in the lobby, and a mural of Holliday, Francis Scott Key, and Edgar Allen Poe along Key Hwy.

Anthem House was described by Thomas S. Bozzuto, chairman of The Bozzuto Group, as “maybe the fastest-leasing building in the history of the company.” The Bozzuto Group has been in existence for three decades and includes more than 65,000 residences. The team told that about 100 apartment leases have been signed.

Scott Plank of War Horse told the amenity spaces were designed to attract many types of tenants including families. He also noted the work of his non-profit with Francis Scott Key Elementary Middle School to improve family living in Locust Point.
