Union Square Association Release:
Union Square, Baltimore — You better watch out, you better not cry, you better not pout, we’re telling you why! It’s the 32nd annual Union Square Christmas Cookie Tour and Union Square is set to celebrate, big time! After serving more than 300,000 mouthwatering cookies, they will kick off the traditional jubilee on Friday, December 8th at 7pm with the Union Square Park Christmas Tree Lighting and welcome. The Cookie Tour will be held on December 10th from 12noon until 4:30pm and starts at 1401 Hollins Street.
With little tin horns and little toy drums, the Union Square Association welcomes you to their community jubilee.
He’s making a list and checking it twice as this year, organizers plan to recruit an unprecedented 20+ remarkable homes within the historic neighborhood to host the event with the best homemade cookies, brownies, candies and libations ever. To add to the holiday magic, they will have a commemorative poster and ornament available for purchase at the door.
Event co-chairs, Kristen Johnson and Khandra Sears, say the community is excited. “Yes, it’s a lot work, but everyone gets involved,” said Ms. Johnson. “It’s such a fun way to celebrate the holidays and support the neighborhood Association’s projects,” agreed Ms. Sears.
The famous Union Square Christmas Cookie Tour began in 1985. Over the years, it has raised thousands of dollars for the Union Square community. Each season, households greet more than 500 visitors. Visitors are attracted from all over the Washington-Baltimore region and beyond.
The Union Square Association takes on many community challenges. Proceeds from the Union Square Association Christmas Cookie Tour support the Association’s upkeep of the Union Square Park, cleanup campaigns, the Bloom Your Block campaign, the Lots of Art Initiative, the Sunday Sounds in the Park music series, the Three on the Third movie series, and representation of the neighborhood in city publications.
