Ebenezer Ethiopian Restaurant Relocating to the Former Camden Pub in Ridgely’s Delight
After 10 years at 821 Washington Blvd. in Pigtown, Ebenezer Ethiopian Restaurant is moving to the former Camden Pub space at 647 W. Pratt St. in Ridgely’s Delight/Downtown. Camden Pub closed last year after 25 years at the location. Ebenezer co-owner Dawit Lemma told SouthBMore.com that the new location will be three times larger than its previous Pigtown location, seating approximately 45 people.
Ebenezer is hoping to reopen next week, after being closed for about three months. The restaurant is run by Lemma and his family members from Ethiopia. Initially Ebenezer will not serve alcohol, but it has begun the process of transferring and reactivating Camden Pub’s former license. Lemma is not sure how long this will take, but Ebenezer will have a bar and a liquor license when completed. Ebenezer will also have two private spaces on the second floor that seat about 15 people each.
Lemma told SouthBMore.com that they were attracted to the new location in Ridgely’s Delight because it was time for a bigger space, and because it is located across the street from University of Maryland Baltimore and close to the University of Maryland Medical Center. Lemma said Ebenezer had many University of Maryland students and workers dining at the Pigtown location.
Ebenezer serves traditional Ethiopian food along with American dishes. This includes beef, lamb, egg, and vegetarian dishes that come with vegetables, sauces, and Ebenezer’s enjra bread. Ebenezer also serves Ethiopian teas and coffee.
Ebenezer will be open every day for lunch and dinner and will offer carryout and delivery.
