Ellen’s Cafe Opens in Hollins Market
Ellen’s Cafe has opened at 31 S. Arlington Ave. in Hollins Market at the former home of CUPS Coffeehouse, which left the space two years ago and opened a new location in East Baltimore.
Ellen’s Cafe is the creation of Ellen Vaughn, who lives in the area and spent previous years working for Dunkin Donuts and remains a shareholder. “I always wanted to have a coffeehouse named after me,” said Vaughn. “I have worked so much in the industry and love the vibe of coming to a place, getting a cup of coffee, and relaxing.”
Vaughn said the Hollins Market community has been very welcoming and excited about having another coffeeshop, which she saw as a need for the neighborhood.
Vaughn is excited about all the changes coming to the community by War Horse Cities, which is also her landlord. War Horse is planning a redevelopment of the Hollins Market and is planning additional investments in the area including new townhomes, renovated rowhomes, and renovated commercial spaces.
Ellen’s Cafe serves chai lattes, hot and iced teas, a large selection of espresso drinks, cappuccinos, coffees, and smoothies. It will serve breakfast sandwiches each day with ingredients including egg, cheese, sausage, turkey sausage, and bacon. Sandwiches will come on bagels, croissants, or English muffins.
For lunch Ellen’s Cafe will serve sandwiches and wraps with tuna salad, chicken salad, and egg salad. Bagels, pastries, cinnamon buns, cookies, and muffins will also be served.
For dine-in customers, Ellen’s Cafe has a couple of tables and a bar top.
Ellen’s Cafe is open Monday to Friday from 630am to 6pm and Saturday from 7am to 6pm.
Ellen’s has six employees.
