Ramen Utsuke Opens at 414 Light Street
414 Light Street in Otterbein/Inner Harbor has its first retail business in operation as Ramen Utsuke opened last month in a 2,071 sq. ft. space. Ramen Utsuke is owned by Shigehiko “Jacky” Okiebisu and is a sister restaurant of Fell’s Point’s Kippo Ramen.
As the name suggests, Ramen Utsuke has a focus on Ramen noodles from Okiebisu’s home country of Japan. The menu offers pork broth ramen known as Tonkotsu Ramen that comes with pork, different oils, and straight or wavy noodles. It also offers chicken broth ramen as well as Miso Ramen, which is available in vegetable, Wafu Dash, chicken, or pork broth.
Additional menu items include rice and bun dishes; sushi and sashimi; appetizers including dumplings and edamame; and desserts including ice creams, sherbets, sorbets, and gelatos in flavors like green tea, mango, vanilla, and red bean.
Ramen Utsuke offers sake, Japanese and domestic beers, and wine, along with sodas and teas.
The interior has tall ceilings; gray, black, red, and wood accents; and a samurai display. Japanese films are played by a projector on the back wall.
Ramen Utsuke is open Monday to Thursday from 1130am to 9pm, Friday and Saturday from 1130am to 10pm, and Sunday from 1130am to 830pm.
At least three restaurants will join Ramen Utsuke at the newly-opened, 44-story 414 Light Street tower, which has a total of 12,300 sq. ft. of first-floor retail. Matthew Kenney Cuisine will open vegan restaurants Plant Food + Wine and Double Zero pizzeria this fall. Another coffee, juice, and breakfast concept will be coming to the building, according to building owner Questar. There is 3,500 sq. ft. of additional retail space, which Questar has not made any announcements about to date.
