12 New Businesses Have Opened on Pigtown Main Street in Recent Months

In recent months, 12 new businesses have opened along Pigtown Main Street. Below is information on these new businesses you can visit in Pigtown.

Opened

SCRAP B-More

SCRAP B-More completed its relocation over the summer from Federal Hill to a larger, approximately 2,030 sq. ft. space at 913 W. Barre St. in Pigtown. Building owner Marc Smith of Magnum Construction Inc. converted the one-story warehouse building into a retail space for SCRAP B-More.

SCRAP B-More is a “creative reuse” nonprofit store that collects donated materials for arts and crafts, in addition to school, office, and party supplies. It then sell these materials at a discounted price. The concept was started in Portland, Oregon.

Friends Grill

Friends Grill took over the 2,400 sq. ft. restaurant space vacated by Cheat Day Bar & Grill at 737 Carroll St. in recent months. Friends Grill is open Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 5pm-11pm, and Sunday from 11am-10pm. It offers Margarita and Game Night on Mondays, $2 Crabs on Tuesdays, $.50 wings and $5 drinks on Fridays, and two-for-one drink specials on Sundays. The menu features appetizers, salads, sandwiches, entrees, and signature cocktails.

Official Haute Mess

Women’s boutique Official Haute Mess relocated from Remington to Pigtown in September. It took over a retail space at 772 Washington Blvd., a space formerly occupied by a law firm. Official Haute Mess also has an online store.

Royal By SBE

Royal By SBE opened in September in the space vacated by 9/10 Condition Sneaker Boutique at 775 Washington Blvd. The family-run personal styling boutique has men’s and women’s signature shoes, accessories, streetwear, and vintage finds, according to a press release. Stylists at Royal by SBE can help customers create a custom look.

Beaters 2 Grails Sneaker Laundry Mat

While 9/10 Condition Sneaker Boutique relocated to Federal Hill, the store owner has returned to the same block of Pigtown with a new store called Beaters 2 Grails Sneaker Laundry Mat at 761 Washington Blvd. 9/10 has had success selling hard-to-find sneakers, and now Beaters 2 Grails is a place for sneaker fans to get their shoes cleaned. Customers can drop their shoes off or get them cleaned while sitting in a chair.

Beaters 2 Grails also sells some shoes and shoe cleaning supplies, and has arcade video games.

Honey’s Cafe

Honey’s Cafe replaced Cafe Jovial at 784 Washington Blvd. in June. Honey’s offers coffee drinks, breakfast, and lunch.

Sens Store

Sens Store opened in December at 773 Washington Blvd. in a space that was formerly occupied by M.D. Medical Supply. Sens sells restored footwear and handbags.

Charm City Books

Charm City Books opened in a 1,200 sq. ft. space at 782 Washington Blvd. in October. Charm City Books took over a former Baltimore Police substation. The business is an independent book store by husband and wife Joe Carlson and Daven Ralston. Along with selling books, Charm City Books offers community events including Babytime, Open Mic Night, Book and Cook, and author appearances.

Main Street Market

Main Street Market opened in the fall at 789 Washington Blvd., replacing the former Shop-n-Go Food. Main Street Market renovated the space and the new convenience store offers pizza, deli sandwiches, Hershey’s ice cream cones, drinks, snacks, and grocery items.

American Beauty Supply 

American Beauty Supply opened in recent months at 1276 Washington Blvd. The space was formerly a convenience store called American Food Market.

Hello Bonita

Hello Bonita opened over the summer at 776 Washington Blvd. in the former home of Bonita Hair Salon, which closed last year. Hello Bonita is a “full service salon offering modern and trendy beauty services with local Baltimore flair,” according to its Facebook page.

REEF Kitchens 

REEF Kitchens opened in a longtime-vacant property at 409 S. Amity St. which is at the corner of W. Cross St. and Washington Blvd. REEF has placed a trailer on a front parking lot where they prepare orders for delivery services. Food is prepared for brands including American Eclectic Burger, Red Corn Taqueria, Burger Bytes, Fork & Ladle, and Wings & Things.

Coming Soon

Milk & Honey Market

Milk & Honey Market will open early this year in a 1700 sq. ft. space at the redeveloped Bath House Square apartment building at 906 Washington Blvd. Milk & Honey Market is a business owned by Vagrant Coffee that also owns 3 Bean Coffee in Federal Hill, Cafe @ 1100 at 1100 Wicomico in Pigtown, and an additional Milk & Honey Market in Station North. Milk & Honey will serve drip coffee drinks and lattes, along with nitro cold brew, kombucha from Baltimore’s Wild Kombucha, and tea from Baltimore’s Wight Tea Company. Food will be “classic American lunch fare” including turkey sandwiches and chicken salad served on bread from local bakeries, salads, breakfast sandwiches, bagels, pastries, and hash from Baltimore’s Stone’s Throw Hash.

Available Spaces

Nick’s Rotisserie relocated to a larger space a few doors up, and now its former space at 813 Washington Blvd. is listed for rent according to a sign on the door.

The former Fraternity Federal and Hamilton Bank building at 764 Washington Blvd. remains empty. It is a 6,940 sq. ft., one-story property with a 40-plus car parking lot. Pigtown Main Street Executive Director Kim Lane called it “the prize of Main Street.” She added, “It has the most potential of any property due to its size to bring customers to Main Street. We are anxious to get a business in there that benefits other businesses in the neighborhood.”

The space was available for lease last year, but remains vacant.

Bob’s Bar has been listed for sale at 1171 Washington Blvd. along with a package of adjacent properties. From an MLS listing:

A renovated retail/office space at 919 W. Barre St. is for lease. The entire building was renovated in recent years and two apartments were added to the second floor.
