Baltimore-area DJ Chris Kopec has been hosting virtual dance parties on Facebook Live as social distancing continues during the COVID-19 pandemic. The parties, which are aired from Kopec’s basement, have attracted more than 6 million views and have raised money for local causes. This Saturday’s dance party will benefit Locust Point’s Ulman Foundation.

An anonymous donor inspired by Kopec’s efforts has pledged $25,000 to Ulman. Listeners will be invited to donate to match this gift with a total fundraising goal of $50,000. Donations can be made on Facebook on April 18, and at

People can visit Kopec’s page to attend the party.

Founded in 1997 by cancer advocate Doug Ulman, the Ulman Foundation creates a community of support for young adults (aged 15-39), and their loved ones, impacted by cancer. It fills a void for adolescents and young adults who are too mature for pediatric-focused programs, and who are rarely established enough to have a dependable network of peers who have faced a similar experience.

The Ulman Foundation is providing continuous services for adolescents and young adult cancer patients through the COVID-19 crisis.
