Demolition Begins at Future Site of ‘The Paramount Baltimore’ Across from M&T Bank Stadium

Demolition is underway at 1300 Warner St. in Stadium Area, which is the future site of music venue The Paramount Baltimore. The proposed $50-million, 92,975 sq. ft., 4,000-seat facility will take the place of a long-vacant 91,744 sq. ft. brick building and warehouse on a two-acre lot.

The Paramount Baltimore is a partnership between The Paramount, which runs a music venue in Huntington, NY on Long Island, and the Horseshoe Casino owners CBAC, which is comprised of Caesars, Rock Gaming, and local developers Caves Valley Partners (CVP). The Paramount Baltimore was first announced in early 2016. CBAC purchased the long-vacant property in January of last year for $4.8 million, according to tax records.

1300 Warner St. will be completely demolished to make way for the new music venue. Work began in recent weeks on the warehouse portion of the building.

Matt Herbert of Design Collective, which is part of the design team of The Paramount Baltimore along with Design 3, said last year that 1300 Warner St. is “dilapidated, beyond repair, and has to come down.” The team will try to recycle and reclaim as much of the brick and timber for the new design. Jim Beck of Design 3 said they “spent two years trying to shoehorn the program into the building, but it just did not work from a program and efficiency standpoint.”

In a statement last year, The Paramount Baltimore team said the facility “will feature a diversified program of events including rock, county, R&B, comedy, hip-hop, disco, metal, pop, alternative music, and children’s shows.” It added, “The Paramount will create the ultimate concert experience for the public and entertainers. The Paramount Baltimore aims to become a world class, legacy venue for the greater Baltimore market.”

The building will have retail along Warner St.

CBAC told SouthBMore.com they are preparing the site for future development and did not release a timeline for beginning construction on The Paramount Baltimore.

The Paramount Baltimore is part of CBAC’s Warner Street District that will redevelop a three-block area to include a Topgolf, a new hotel, additional retail and entertainment venues, and a renovation of a waterfront park situated behind the Horseshoe Casino Baltimore garage.

The Warner Street District will tie into additional investments in the area. Hammerjacks is an entertainment venue planned next door to The Paramount at 1300 Russell St. Just east of Warner Street District is a four-building project by Himmelrich Associates called Stadium Crossing. Adjacent to Stadium Crossing is Stadium Square, a three-block, $300-plus million project by CVP.
