World of Beer Closes at McHenry Row in Locust Point

After six years of business at McHenry Row in Locust Point, World of Beer is closing. World of Beer vacates a large corner suite with an outdoor patio on the southern end of the mixed-use development.

The company released the following statement to SouthBMore.com:

Because of the current economic climate due to COVID-19, sadly we have made the difficult decision to permanently close World of Beer Baltimore.  We would like to thank all of our loyal customers for their business and support over the last 6 years.  We would also like to thank our tremendous staff who fostered the welcoming atmosphere that WOB was known for.  WOB Baltimore was not just a business to us, but a family.  Our staff and customers cared deeply about the tavern and we are sad to see the end.  Hopefully we’ll see you at one of our other MD locations in Towson, Rockville, or Bethesda soon.

Jay Sapperstein of 28 Walker, which owns McHenry Row, told SouthBMore.com that they are “are open to different concepts there.” He noted the restaurant infrastructure is all staying including the outdoor area and liquor license. He also said the new user will have plenty of free parking and “strong exposure” on Key Hwy.

“We think we will find a great user for that space,” said Sapperstein, who added that they have engaged with a few suitors but do not have a deal yet.

28 Walker is working with Ryan Wilner of KLNB to lease the space.

The Urban Oyster also recently announced it would be closing at McHenry Row.
