Comfort Food and Seafood Cafe ‘England Eatery’ Opens in Hollins Market

England Eatery opened last month at 31 S. Arlington St. in Hollins Market. The first-floor retail space, which is located across the street from the Hollins Market, was vacant for more than a year. The space was previously home to a couple of coffee shops.

England Eatery is a restaurant owned by Aisha England who left a multi-decade career in sales to follow her passion of cooking. After often making dishes for family and friends at work, she was encouraged to open her own place. Many of England’s recipes are inspired by her mother and grandmother’s recipes. She describes the menu featuring a plethora of seafood dishes as “comfort food with a different spin.”

The menu features items such as salmon stuffed with lump crab meat, crab cakes, crab cake-stuffed lamb chops, fish and chips, fried seafood platters, and a crabby grilled cheese. There are non-seafood options such as red velvet chicken and waffles, New York Strip steaks, and lemon pepper chicken.

On Tuesdays, England Eatery serves tacos which England said are so popular she has to limit them to one day a week to keep up. She said people especially enjoy her fried whiting fish tacos topped with two homemade sauces. Fried and grilled shrimp tacos are also available on Taco Tuesdays.

Drinks include fruit lemonades and iced tea.

England Eatery is currently open Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday from 3pm to 8pm. Dishes are currently available for carryout and delivery on Postmates.

When things return back to normal following the COVID-19 pandemic, England Eatery will have four interior tables and some outdoor seating.

England Eatery will also become more of a coffee shop in the near future with morning hours and a selection of coffee drinks and breakfast items.

England grew up in Baltimore and was attracted to Hollins Market because she sees it as “up and coming.” She is excited about the renovation taking place to the market and loves the diversity of the neighborhood. England found the retail space through her boyfriend who is a barber across the street at New Beginnings.

England said people in the neighborhood have been very supportive and noted that her Instagram page has led to a lot of business.

England runs England Eatery with her two kids. After her long sales career, she’s thrilled to be able to spend extra time with her family.
