Domino Sugar’s Raw Sugar Shed Catches Fire, Collapses
Today, at approximately 3pm, the raw sugar shed on the eastern edge of Domino Sugar’s campus on Key Hwy. in Locust Point caught fire and collapsed to the ground. Baltimore Fire Department had the three-alarm fire mostly extinguished within about 50 minutes.
From Domino Sugar:
A fire in the raw sugar shed of the Baltimore Refinery was reported at approximately 3 pm on Tuesday. The Baltimore City Fire Department was immediately contacted and the refinery was evacuated. All employees are accounted for and no injuries occurred.
The refinery is currently not operating and the fire department remains on the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation

Sticky situation.
During the fire, the building collapsed causing a sugary mixture to creep along the fire scene. #BCFDS26 had to retreat to avoid getting stuck.

During yesterday’s fire at Domino Sugar, once the building collapsed, one of our engines took a beating from the heat. Here is the aftermath. Fortunately nobody was injured.
It should buff right out though.
