Vegan Restaurants ‘Double Zero’ and ‘Liora’ to Open July 1st at 414 Light Street
Santa Monica, California-based Matthew Kenney Cuisine (MKC) will open vegan restaurants Double Zero and Liora in adjacent retail spaces at 414 Light Street in Otterbein/Inner Harbor on July 1st. This is the fourth location for the Double Zero pizza brand and the first location for Liora, which will be a vegan take on Baltimore cuisine.
MKC is a plant-based lifestyle brand founded by chef, author, and wellness entrepreneur Matthew Kenney. The two restaurants will occupy 4,500 sq. ft. of space on the first floor of the 44-story apartment building.
Double Zero offers “plant-based pies, creative Italian fare and a selection of organic, sustainable and biodynamic wines.” Double Zero replaces its cheese with ingredients such as macadamia ricotta, cashew cream, cashew mozzarella, and rice mozzarella. It offers a vegan pepperoni as well as a farro-fennel sausage. The pies are made Neapolitan style in a wood-fired oven. The restaurant takes its name from the popular Italian 00 flour.
Liora will serve vegan takes on classics such as crab cakes, BBQ dishes, burgers, and cacio e pepe.
“Double Zero Pizza offers a healthy, plant-based adaptation of a universally-loved food,” said Kenney in a press release. “Using the best dough, honoring traditional styles – while constantly experimenting with new dishes – is what makes it unique… not just in the plant-based market, but the pizza industry as a whole.”
Double Zero and Liora were first announced in March 2019. 414 Light Street opened its apartments in August 2018.
