Federal Hill Fire Damages Six Homes

A fire occurred Thursday morning in Federal Hill. From the Baltimore City Fire Department:

Shortly after 6am, we responded to the 1200 blk of Battery Ave for a reported fire. Upon arrival, firefighters had heavy fire and smoke showing from 6 homes and from multiple floors. All occupants managed to escape while firefighters worked to extinguish the fire. No injuries reported and the cause is under investigation.

Nearby residents reported hearing an explosion prior to the fire.

The fire caused damage to six homes: five on the 300 block of E. West St. and one on the 1200 block of Battery Ave.

Crews are currently at the scene clearing the damage.
