Southwest Partnership Opens Office at Former Littlepage’s Furniture

Southwest Partnership moved into its new office building at 1317 W. Baltimore St. in Union Square/Franklin Square in July. The nonprofit organization is a coalition of seven neighborhood associations and six anchor institutions in Southwest Baltimore.

The approximately 10,000 sq. ft. building at 1317 W. Baltimore St. was the former home of Littlepage’s Furniture before it closed in 2019. The furniture store was located in Southwest Baltimore since 1893.

Southwest Partnership purchased the building for $400,000 in 2019. The organization moved from a second-story office space across the street from Hollins Market.

Southwest Partnership Executive Director Tony Scott said getting the new office ready was a “pandemic project” for the organization. He said not much renovation was need outside of new flooring and HVAC improvements. Scott said the building is a big and open space for the organization which has five of its 10 staff members working in the building.

The second floor of the building is currently empty, and Southwest Partnership will look to fill it with additional tenants. Scott said he wants the tenants to be community-oriented like Southwest Partnership. He said they will need to replace the carpet and will look to lease the space in the coming months.

The building has a glass storefront facade with the Littlepage’s sign still hanging. Southwest Partnership, which actively works with building owners on facade improvement grants along W. Baltimore St., will soon look to improve its owns facade. Scott noted they’d like to preserve the Littlepage’s sign due its history in the area.

Scott said Southwest Partnership likes being “where the action is” and enjoys seeing people look through the windows and come in to meet with the staff.
