SouthBMore.com Would Love Your Support!
Like nearly ever other media publication in Baltimore and beyond, I’ve finally come to the realization after 10 years that SouthBMore.com can’t rely solely on digital advertising income to stay afloat and become the publication I want it to be. As a result, SouthBMore.com has launched a Patreon page where readers can contribute to SouthBMore.com to support our work.
Reader revenue has become the predominant business model for much of the online media industry to keep things going in this increasingly difficult and unstable era of digital advertising. There are a few different ways to do this: you can put all website content behind a paywall that is accessible to only paid subscribers; you can have a premium section for select articles each week that can be read by paid subscribers; or you can keep all of your content free and ask for readers to contribute on a voluntary basis. We are going with option #3. This is very commonplace not only in the online news industry, but also with many YouTube channels, podcasts, and blogs.
On our Patreon you can contribute $3, $5, $10, $15, or $20 a month to SouthBMore.com. This will go a long way to help us stabilize our business and pay the increasing amount of fees that come with supporting a website with more than 500,000 visitors each year. Additional income will help SouthBMore.com reach its goals which include improving the content provided to readers and listeners; putting systems in place to grow advertising options and income; adding staff; and creating additional sites to cover different corners of this city.
To everyone who chooses to support SouthBMore.com on Patreon, we are so appreciative – THANK YOU!
Please note: SouthBMore.com is a for-profit business that pays city, state, and federal taxes. Contributions from individuals are not tax deductible.
As noted, SouthBMore.com has been supported over the years by digital advertising from many great businesses, organizations, and professionals. However, some of the most important sectors that turn to SouthBMore.com for advertising have been severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, which in turn has limited SouthBMore.com’s income and growth.
For those now looking to spotlight your business, services, organization, event, or other initiatives, advertising with SouthBMore.com is a great, cost-effective option to consider. It helps get your message out to the South Baltimore community and is a great way to support everything we do at SouthBMore.com.
We are incredibly thankful to all of the advertisers we’ve had over the years who have helped keep the lights on at SouthBMore.com. And, we hope to work with many more!
It’s been an incredible 10-year ride and I know that because of the great South Baltimore community we can celebrate 20 years in the future. I want to thank this community for making SouthBMore.com what it is today and helping me build something that has hopefully become a staple of South Baltimore.
