Discount toy and accessory store Five Below will open at Southside Marketplace in Locust Point/Riverside in 2023. The shopping center is owned and managed by Regency Centers. Andrew Kabat, senior vice president and senior market officer of Regency Centers, declined to say what space Five Below will be taking over in the shopping center.

Five Below was started in Philadelphia. It has more than 1,000 locations, including one in Canton. Most items in Five Below are $5 or less.

Southside Marketplace currently has vacancies at the former 2,546 sq. ft. Reflex Functional Fitness space (the fitness facility recently relocated to Silo Point in Locust Point) and the former 4,354 sq. ft. PetValu space. These two spaces are adjacent to each other. There are also vacancies at the former 3,206 sq. ft. Popeye’s space and the former 1,400 sq. ft. Great Clips space.

According to Five Below’s website, a minimum of 8,000 sq. ft. is needed for a Five Below location.

Five Below is one of several changes for Southside Marketplace. Giant will replace Shoppers in the fourth quarter of this year and Quickway Japanese Hibachi will replace the former 2,400 sq. ft. Sleepy’s.

Kabat told he is excited about new tenants coming to the 125,146 sq. ft. shopping center.
