Sobo Baseball Club 8-U Team Wins Tournament
The newly-formed Sobo Baseball Club won the AYRA High Heat Rec All-Star Tournament in Howard Country with its 8u team last month. Kenny Kulesz, who started the organization, said the team was comprised completely of kids who played in the South Baltimore Little League.
The team, coached by South Baltimore resident Sean Delaney, won three straight games on the second day of the tournament to claim the title. They won 6-4 in extra innings in the championship game.
Kulesz said he saw an opportunity to work with South Baltimore Little League to add a supplemental travel program. The goal of Sobo Baseball Club is to have three to four travel teams that will play in tournaments next summer to not interfere with the South Baltimore Little League schedule.
This year, Sobo Baseball Club also fielded a 9u team.
Sobo Baseball Club is working on a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with South Baltimore Little League to use its Locust Point facility.
Kulesz hopes that Sobo Baseball Club will eventually eliminate the need for players to leave South Baltimore to play high-level baseball.
Below is a recap of Sobo Baseball Club AYRA High Heat Rec All Star Tournament provided by Kulesz.
