Today, the students and staff of Thomas Johnson Elementary Middle School (TJEMS) in South Baltimore will be treated to a Miss Twist Ice Cream social thanks to local Federal Hill and Fells’ Point businesses.

On the first day of school, there was a lockdown at TJEMS because of a shooting at an adjacent property. Zelda Zen owner Beth Hawks, who spearheaded the event, said she wanted to “CELEBRATE this 2022/2023 school year by showing our littles & families they are loved & supported!”

Hawks added, “I asked my fellow businesses to donate & within a blink of an eye…..the funds were available!!!!! I am honored to stand amongst incredible businesses & we are honored to be in your communities!”

From TJEMS on Facebook:

A HUGE thank you to these generous and kind charm city businesses who arranged a visit from Ms. Twist after hearing about our tough first day of school this year. We are so lucky to be part of this Baltimore City community ❤️
