Constellation Education Center and Inner Harbor Water Taxi Terminal Opens at Inner Harbor
On September 8th, the Baltimore City Department of Transportation held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly-constructed USS Constellation Education Center and Inner Harbor Water Taxi Terminal.
From Baltimore City Department of Transportation:
This new building is a community resource funded through the City of Baltimore, the State of Maryland, the US Department of Transportation, and the Charles T. Bauer Foundation, in partnership with the Living Classrooms Foundation and Historic Ships of Baltimore.
The building, located on Pier 1 in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, consists of an educational center for the USS Constellation and a water taxi terminal for public use. The facility includes maritime exhibits, a ticket counter, and gift shop as well as the entry point to the ship over newly constructed gangways. The Water Taxi Terminal offers improved amenities for Baltimore’s Water Taxi patrons, local travelers, and visitors to Baltimore.
Plans for the USS Constellation Education Center and Inner Harbor Water Taxi Terminal have been in the works for over two decades, and its completion adds remarkable value to the Inner Harbor waterfront, including a beautiful rooftop deck for visitors and education programs. As a community resource, the building supports transportation along the Inner Harbor waterfront and celebrates Baltimore’s rich maritime history.
