Topgolf Opens in South Baltimore
Topgolf Baltimore has been under construction since May 2021. The three-level, 65,000 sq. ft. building on 6.5 acres is located on Ridgely’s Cove of the Patapsco River. The building fronts Warner St. and the driving range moves east to west and ends at the Light Rail bridge.
The project replaces the former Animal Control and Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS) site and former Ravens Lot J.
Topgolf Baltimore features point-scoring golf games in its 90 outdoor hitting bays. The new building also features indoor bars and an outdoor patio.
There is a large green grass area in front of Topgolf Baltimore. Kris Gobeil, director of operations for Topgolf Baltimore, said there are ideas to activate this space.
Gobeil called the Baltimore location “one of a kind.” He noted the views from the hitting bays include M&T Bank Stadium, the traffic on the highways, the water, and the Domino Sugars sign.
The menu at Topgolf features “Bites & Shareables” such as wings, pretzel bites, cheesy macaroni bites, tacos, and flatbreads; burgers and chicken sandwiches; salads; a kids menu; and desserts. The bar features local beers such as UNION Craft Brewing Duck Pin Pale Ale, Diamondback Brewing Locust Point Lager, and Loose Cannon by Heavy Seas Beer. It also has a larger selection of national and import beers, cocktails, wine, and non-alcoholic drinks.
Topgolf Baltimore is open 10am to 11pm on Sunday to Thursday and 10am to 12pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
Topgolf Baltimore has more than 500 employees. Gobeil said it was “surprisingly not hard at all” to hire this much staff.
Parking is available for Topgolf Baltimore patrons on the second floor of the Horseshoe Casino Baltimore garage.
Topgolf operates 69 venues around the world.
Part of the Topgolf agreement with the Baltimore Development Corporation (BDC) is a plan for improvements to the adjacent trail and park located behind the casino’s parking garage and along the Gwynns Falls Trail and Ridgely’s Cove. Topgolf’s contractors began work on this project in January 2021 and the project is now reopened to the public.
Also part of The Walk @ Warner Street is an under-construction 70,000 sq. ft., 4,000-seat music venue The Paramount Baltimore. It began construction at 1300 Warner St. in February and is expected to open next summer.
A large warehouse and retail building at 1400 Warner St. was recently demolished. The master plan for the The Walk @ Warner Street shows a hotel being built on the southern section of the property. A retail building is also planned for the northern end of the property.
A 30,000 sq. ft. bar with a placeholder name of Yards Social Bar is marketed to replace an industrial building at 1301 Warner St. Horseshoe Casino Baltimore General Manager Randy Conroy told SouthBMore.com “an announcement should be coming soon” for this space.
