Mindpub Cafe in Riverside Adding a Liquor License

A liquor license will soon return to 554 E. Fort Ave. in Riverside as Mindpub Cafe is adding a new Class B Beer, Wine, and Liquor license. Mindpub co-owner Todd Marks expects the license to be activated by the end of the year.

Mindpub opened 14 months ago as a cafe specializing in bagel sandwiches and coffee drinks. The building had a liquor license for many years for previous restaurants, such as Rachel New American Cuisine and Breadbangers, but the license dissolved before the Marks family was able to buy the 3,792 sq. ft. building.

Todd Marks, who co-owns Mindpub with wife Nikki Marks, said the license will be primarily used to add breakfast drinks like mimosas, bloody marys, and alcoholic coffee drinks to its breakfast and lunch menu. It will also offer fresh fruit crushes and bottled and canned beers.

Mindpub is currently open Tuesday to Sunday from 8am to 2pm, but Todd Marks said they are looking to expand into a “light fare” dinner service.

Mindpub gets its bagels in from New Jersey and serves coffee using beans roasted at Locust Point’s Pfefferkorn’s Coffee.

Todd Marks described Mindpub, which has become a popular place for people to work remotely, as a high-end Starbucks or Panera. He said the main difference is their use of fresh food, plus the upcoming addition of the liquor license. Mindpub has also kept busy with catering many business lunches.

Currently two of the Marks’ seven kids work at Mindpub.

With three floors of space, Mindpub is available for private parties. It also has a large commercial kitchen on the second floor which is shared by different food businesses.
