Baltimore Named the 4th Best US Market for USMNT vs. Iran World Cup Match

| December 2, 2022 | 0 Comments

While Baltimore was snubbed as a host city for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America, the city continues to show off its soccer chops. During the United States Men’s National Soccer Team’s (USMNT) crucial match vs. Iran, which put the Americans in the Knockout Stage, Baltimore was the #4 television market in the United States.

According to Front Office Sports, viewership peaked at 15.6 million viewers in the United States during the 2pm game. The top five TV markets were Washington D.C., Providence, Boston, Baltimore, and Kansas City.

The top market, Washington D.C., teamed with Baltimore on the rejected bid for the World Cup in South Baltimore.

While Baltimore won’t be getting the World Cup unless something unexpected changes in the next four years, the city will likely be getting a United Soccer League team and Right to Dream Academy in the Baltimore Peninsula development or another part of the city.
