‘Mattress by Appointment Baltimore’ Opens in South Baltimore

Mattress by Appointment Baltimore opened last month at the WareWorks flex/warehouse facility at 2050 Washington Blvd. in the Carroll-Camden Industrial Area. Mattress by Appointment is a national company and the license for the Baltimore location is owned by Riverside resident Andy Grimshaw.

Mattress by Appointment Baltimore has an 1,800 sq. ft. space at WareWorks where it stores 150 mattresses plus box springs. It also has 10 different mattresses on display. It offers pillow top, Euro top, and firm mattresses. Customers can make an appointment to visit the warehouse (by calling 443-885-0832), check out the the inventory, and purchase and take home a mattress the same day. The company also offers delivery.

Andy Grimshaw, who runs the business with wife Abby Grimshaw, said they spent about six months last year looking for a mattress and trying to figure out what they wanted. He thought, “There has to be an easier way than this.”

Andy Grimshaw spent recent years in the corporate world doing advertising sales for the former City Paper and later running events for WTMD. He said he was getting burned out and was ready to do something on his own. The concept of Mattress by Appointment came across his desk and he began to think about it more and more before deciding to pursue.

“Everyone sleeps and there should be an easier buying process. Maybe I can provide one,” he said.

Since Mattress by Appointment Baltimore doesn’t have a traditional retail space, Andy Grimshaw said they can pass the savings on to the consumer. It offers different mattresses at different price points to work with each customer’s budget.

“You’re getting a high-quality bed for a better price,” he said.

Andy Grimshaw hopes to have a lot of success selling mattresses within a three-mile radius of his South Baltimore location and said that is where they will focus their marketing.

There are additional Mattress by Appointment locations in Linthicum and Pasadena.
