Oriole Park at Camden Yards Could Get a New Name
According to Sports Business Journal, Oriole Park at Camden Yards could change its name if it lands a corporate sponsor. From the article:
The Orioles have quietly been taking Camden Yards naming rights to market this year, according to sources. The nameplate being sold would apply to the field only (i.e. XYZ Field at Camden Yards). This is a proposition which has worked before in the NFL (the Broncos’ Empower Field at Mile High or the Chiefs’ GEHA Field at Arrowhead). It is not a designation that has been in the baseball ranks, although the Dodgers have been attempting to sell that proposition on and off for at least six years, with no success
Sources said a decade-long deal comes with an asking price of $6-8M annually, depending on various levels of on-site and electronic media inventory baked into any deal.
The news comes as a slew of changes are already taking place at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Levy has taken over food and beverage at the stadium with changes including a new concept for Dempsey’s Brew Pub. The Orioles Team Store is now run by Fanatics and there will be a SuperBook Sports betting lounge at an undisclosed location in the stadium this year.
The Orioles are hoping to get a lease extension at Oriole Park at Camden Yards this year and are planning up to $600 million in improvements at the stadium. There is also interest in a redevelopment of the Camden Yards Sport Complex that could make it a mixed-use destination like The Battery Atlanta around Truist Park, the home of the Atlanta Braves. Orioles Chairman and CEO John Angelos and Maryland Governor Wes Moore toured The Battery Atlanta last week.
