‘Our Baltimore’ Mural Added to Light and Pratt Street
A new mural that reads “Our Baltimore” has been added to the facade of 200 E. Pratt St. in the Inner Harbor. The building, which sits at the busy corner of Light St. and Pratt St., has offices and is home to the Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace Hotel. The Gallery Mall was previously as the building before it closed at the end of 2021.
The colorful mural features the Bromo Seltzer tower, a flamingo, a black-eyed susan, a record player, and a sun. The retail windows of the former mall were covered with images including horses, crabs, an oriole, and the Patterson Park Pagoda.
The mural was designed and installed by Baltimore artists Eric Abrecht and Andrew Snair. The window portions of the mural were installed by Duo Signage + Graphics.
The property is owned by Brookfield Properties.
From Baltimore Business Journal:
A spokeswoman for Brookfield on Friday said the developer is still working on plans to reinvent the space.
“Brookfield continues to evaluate opportunities to reposition the Gallery, and in the meantime is excited to be working with local artists on the ‘Our Baltimore’ mural to activate and enliven the Inner Harbor streetscape,” the company said in a statement via email.
The shuttered mall is across the street from the Harborplace Pavilions which were recently acquired by MCB Real Estate. The Light Street Pavilion is mostly vacant while the Pratt Street Pavilion still has a handful of tenants.
Baltimore Fishbowl reported the following from BMCB Managing Partner in March:
The key, he said, will be leasing space to short-term tenants who can fill up the mostly-vacant pavilions temporarily, while planning is underway for a more permanent redevelopment.
