Large New Green Space Added to Baltimore Peninsula Where Future Developments are Planned
Land along E. Cromwell St., where two development pad sites are planned in Baltimore Peninsula, has been designated as a temporary green space.
The green space sits in between Sagamore Spirit Distillery, Under Armour’s under-construction office building, and new buildings along E. Cromwell St. The Baltimore Peninsula master plan shows two large new buildings at this site and adjacent green spaces fronting water. There is a also currently a parking lot for Sagamore Spirit next to the green space that isn’t permanent, according to the master plan.
“That’s an example of a small move with a very big impact,” said MaryAnne Gilmartin of MAG Partners, a development partner in the Baltimore Peninsula development team. “People can now play on the lawn. We’re really excited about that.”
The new green space was sodded in recent weeks and a shipping container with a “Baltimore Peninsula” mural was installed.
Baltimore Peninsula recently completed five new buildings in Chapter 1B. Gilmartin told SouthBMore.com last month it will be very hard to get any new buildings off the ground this year due to the current market conditions.
The site of Chapter 1B of the Baltimore Peninsula development, which is now mostly completed, was temporarily used as a green space for Volo sports games and concerts.
When completed, Chapter 1 of the Baltimore Peninsula development is proposed to have 1o acres of park space.
