Volo Hoping to Bring Food and Beverage Back to South Point Next Year

South Baltimore-based social sports company Volo is hoping to bring back the food and beverage program to South Point next year. South Point is a former waterfront bar and current event space at West Covington Park in Baltimore Peninsula. The bar was open in 2018 and 2019, but has not reopened since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Volo has been running sports leagues at West Covington Park for the last few years. Volo Founder Giovanni Marcantoni told SouthBMore.com his company is hoping to partner with another company on the food and will likely bring in a container bar.

West Covington Park and an adjacent parking lot is owned by the Baltimore Peninsula development team. This summer it has hosted multiple reggae concerts, festivals, and outdoor fitness. It is also a popular location for kite flying.

In 2018 and 2019, South Point had a mobile bar, food trucks, bathroom trailers, picnic tables, shade structures, and an old-school arcade trailer. The team at South Point promoted the nightly summer sunsets visible just southwest of the venue.

South Point also had a large tent used for events and live music which has returned in recent weeks.

In addition to the South Point news, Volo announced yesterday the opening of Volo Beach, an outdoor social sports venue with pickle ball courts, volleyball courts, and spaces for soccer, football, kickball, bocce, cornhole, and food and beverage farther east in the Baltimore Peninsula development. It is partially open already and the company hopes to have it in full swing by Spring 2024.
