Under Armour’s New Stadium Now Hosting Baltimore City High School Games
Under Armour’s new ‘The Stadium at The House,’ located at the company’s under-construction Baltimore Peninsula campus, is now the home to select Baltimore City Public Schools (BCPS) sports games. Tonight, Poly and City will have two soccer matches at The Stadium at The House as JV Boys Soccer squares off at 4pm and Varsity Girls Soccer kicks off at 6pm.
City and Poly are popular high schools for South Baltimore Peninsula students. Both soccer programs have players who attended Thomas Johnson Elementary Middle School (TJEMS) and Francis Scott Key Elementary Middle School who will play in today’s matches.
Federal Hill’s Digital Harbor High School has Varsity Football games on September 29th vs. Patterson and October 13th vs. City at The Stadium at The House. Digital Harbor Varsity Boys Soccer plays Ben Franklin on October 4th at Under Armour.
“Through Project Rampart, Under Armour’s ongoing partnership with Baltimore City Public Schools, we are committed to elevating opportunity and access to sports for students,” said an Under Armour spokesperson in an email to SouthBMore.com. “Under Armour is offering The Stadium at The House as a state-of-the-art venue for Baltimore City Public High School student athletes to compete in select Fall and Spring athletics – including soccer and football games this season.”
The spokesperson added that people should reference Baltimore City Public Schools citywide athletics calendar for scheduling.
The Stadium at The House opened earlier this year. Under Armour will fully relocate to Baltimore Peninsula from Locust Point by 2024/2205 as the company began construction on a new 280,000 sq. ft. office, retail, and fitness building called TMB2 in December.
Under Armour in recent years has renovated school gyms, including the gym at TJEMS, and provided uniforms to BCPS teams.
Also included in Project Rampart is:
- Student Athlete Development – Student athletes have the opportunity to participate in dozens of Under Armour-sponsored development activations including sport-specific campus experiences and the Under Armour Student Athlete Leadership Council conducted in partnership with the Travis Manion Foundation.
- Academic Support – A partnership with the AthLife Foundation helps student athletes stay on top of their studies in and out of season. This year alone, Under Armour is providing each of five Baltimore City High Schools with a $25,000 Academic Athletic Coach Grant Award, intended to create high-impact programming and drive greater gains in academic achievement. The five schools are: Reginald F. Lewis High School, Green Street Academy, Frederick Douglass High School, Dunbar High School and Edmondson-Westside High School.
- Coaching and Athletic Director Training & Development – Under Armour, in partnership with the Baltimore Ravens and Positive Coaching Alliance, provides all Baltimore public high school coaches and athletic directors with character- and leadership-based coaching on a regular basis to ensure mentors are continuing to learn and grow as they serve student athletes.
