Orioles First Playoff Game Slated for Saturday at 1pm, Billy Joel Concert at 7pm at M&T Bank Stadium

When the Orioles won the American League East and secured the #1 seed in the American League, they locked in their first playoff game at Oriole Park at Camden Yards on Saturday, October 7th–the same day M&T Bank Stadium is hosting the Billy Joel and Stevie Nicks concert.

This led to a lot of speculation from fans and concert goers about how these two events logistically could be played on the same day as the two venues share parking lots. MLB playoff games are scheduled by MLB and its television broadcast partners.

However, today, the Orioles announced the game will be played at 1 pm. The concert is scheduled for 7 pm.

With new rules to speed up the game, the average Major League Baseball game time in 2023 was 2:40. A rain delay or extra inning contest could certainly extend the completion of a game, however. According to Weather.com, there is a 70 percent chance of rain on Saturday.

At this time, SouthBMore.com has not heard any parking updates from the Billy Joel and Stevie Nicks concert promoters.

It will be an especially busy day around Downtown Baltimore as CFG Bank Arena, which has a capacity of 14,000, is hosting Carin Leon’s Colmillo De Leche Tour.

Orioles Park at Camden Yards has a capacity of 45,971 and a sellout is expected. M&T Bank Stadium has a capacity of 70,745, but the concert capacity is closer to 50,000.

Saturday will officially mark the Orioles return to the playoffs for the first time since 2016. They will also host playoff games at Oriole Park at Camden Yards for the first time since 2014 when the team was eliminated in the American League Championship series.

The Orioles will play at Oriole Park on Sunday as well, but the Ravens are away playing the Pittsburgh Steelers.
