Orioles Manager Brandon Hyde Named American League Manager of the Year

| November 15, 2023 | 0 Comments

Last night, Orioles Manager Brandon Hyde was named the American League Manager of the Year. This year’s Major League Baseball (MLB) awards have featured a lot of black and orange as Gunnar Henderson was named American League Rookie of the Year, Orioles Vice President and General Manager Mike Elias was named the MLB Executive of the Year, and Henderson, along with Adley Rutschman, won the Silver Slugger Award, a recognition given to the top hitters at their position in the American League.

From the Orioles website:

Hyde was named the winner of the 2023 American League Manager of the Year Award, becoming the fourth Orioles skipper to receive the honor after Frank Robinson (1989), Davey Johnson (‘97) and Buck Showalter (2014). Hyde received 27 of the 30 first-place votes cast by members of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America and finished with 144 points.

The Orioles finished the 2023 season with 101 wins, the most in the American League.

This was Hyde’s fifth season as the Orioles manager and his second straight season with a winning record.
