Official Italian Soccer League Watch Party Sunday at Power Plant Live!

The Serie A, the highest professional soccer league in Italy, is bringing a watch party to Power Plant Live! this Sunday. It will start at 1pm with the SSC Napoli vs. Inter Milan match beginning at 245pm.

The watch party is an effort for Serie A to grow the league in the United States. The event is organized by Niko Roros, a Baltimorean and former player for the Baltimore Blast who got his masters at the Rome City Institute in Italy. His masters program had a partnership with Serie A and his class worked on a project about the benefits of expanding the popularity of the league in the United States.

Some of the biggest American soccer stars are currently in Seria A including Christian Pulisic (AC Milan), Yunus Musah (AC Milan), Timothy Weah (Juventus F.C.), and Weston McKinnie (Juventus F.C.).

Roros is currently the goalie coach for UMBC Women’s Soccer, and in his free time he wanted to work on this collaboration between Serie A and his hometown. He called it an effort to bring the soccer community of Baltimore and the Italian community of Baltimore together.

He also noted there is a lot of potential to grow Serie A and loves bringing a focus on Baltimore.

The Serie A championship trophy, lo Scudetto, will be onsite at the watch party. Napoli is the current champions of Serie A. Roros has reached out to a Napoi fan club in New Jersey and expects some members to attend.

A representative from the Serie A office in New York will also be in attendance.

The event will also feature Aperol spritz and Limonello specials as well as meatball plates and Margherita pizzas for $5. It will be “fun for all ages.”

The event will be indoors and outdoors using The Alley at Power Plant Live! as well as Luckie’s Tavern. The venue can hold up to 3,500 people so Roros said, “the sky is the limit.” He hopes this is the first of many Series A watch parties in Baltimore.
