Under Armour Adding Solar Canopies to its Parking Lot in Port Covington

| January 4, 2024 | 0 Comments

Under Armour is currently under construction on a project to add solar canopies to a new parking lot at its Port Covington campus. The parking lot is located behind the new “The Stadium at The House.”

An Under Armour spokesperson told SouthBMore.com the following in an email:

In line with one of Under Armour’s core values, Act Sustainably, we are hard at work constructing our new headquarters to be net-zero, aspiring to attain Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) platinum certification, WELL Building Standard certification and International Living Future Institute net-zero energy certification. The new building is being constructed with mass timber and utilizes smart design features such as geothermal heating and cooling, rainwater capture, enhanced filtration, and solar to substantially reduce the company’s carbon footprint and impact on the environment. Once construction is complete, we will have 4,070 solar panels onsite.

The Stadium at The House, which was completed in 2023, is used by Under Armour and its employees. It has also been home to many local high school and club sports events.

Under Armour will fully relocate to Port Covington from Locust Point by 2024/2o25.

The company began construction on a new 280,000 sq. ft. office, retail, and fitness building called TMB2 in December 2023. The company also has the 170,000 sq. ft. Building 37, which is an office building retrofitted from the former Sam’s Club. A former Walmart building (Building 96) still stands and has been used for warehouse sales, PPE manufacturing, town halls, and retail mockup stores.

Under Armour’s 50-acre new headquarters is next to a flurry of construction. It sits adjacent to the 25-acre Locke Landing development and the 235-acre Baltimore Peninsula Development.
