Pickett Brewing Company press release:

Pickett Brewing Company, Culinary Architecture, Swill Apothecafe and Taste “Gourmet on the Go” – all located in Pigtown- announce a collaborative neighborhood event, Beer & Bites, on Sunday March 10 from 12-5pm to celebrate Women’s History Month with music from The Black-Eyed Suzies. Pickett Brewing, named Best Brewery in 2023 by the editors of Baltimore Magazine, is owned by Kate Conway who wanted to celebrate and highlight other women-owned small businesses in Pigtown for the event.

Built for craft beer lovers and foodies alike, the event will include a limited edition beer called In Dreams Hazy Pale Ale brewed by the women of Pickett and featuring can art by artist and Pigtown resident, Caroline Lampinen, of Okay Everything. Lampinen will also have artwork available for sale at the event. Pickett Brewing will donate a portion of the sales of In Dreams to SPARC Women’s Center, a center for women located in Pigtown. The food featured includes a veritable “taste of Pigtown” from three female chefs and business owners.

Sylva Lin will bring a selection of gourmet food from Culinary Architecture, the biggest little grocery store (and caterer) in Baltimore and winner of 2023 Best of Baltimore Gourmet Market from Baltimore Magazine. At Culinary Architecture, Lin carries a curated collection of uncommon goods and believes in creating connections around the table and bringing people in the community together to discover delicious new food – a mission she’ll bring to Beer & Bites on March 10.

Heather Smith of Swill Apothecafe by Blacksmiths will join the party, too. Smith is a renowned chef and Swill offers amazing meals including “Eats & Beats” and “Boozy Brunches” at her cafe on Washington Boulevard. Smith celebrates diversity through food and recognizing its power for story telling, social change, and community well-being. She will bring gourmet charcuterie boards to the Beer & Bites event.

Rounding out the food selection for the event is Helen Markatos owner of the Taste “Gourmet on the Go” food trailer. The Taste trailer is a staple in Pigtown for lunch and dinner and serves up award nominated smash burgers and 1st place award-winning chicken chili. You can find Markatos outside Pickett Brewing on Wednesdays and Fridays, as well as their Bluegrass Sunday events. And, she’ll pull up on March 10, hopefully with some of her famous banana pudding as well.

The day will mark the connection these women have and their love of community-building, while highlighting mutual support and determination, job creation, and charitable giving all while enjoying great craft beer and delicious food in Pigtown.
