‘Don Tigre Mexican Cuisine Bar’ Now Open in Locust Point

Don Tigre Mexican Cuisine Bar is now open at 900 E. Fort Ave. in Locust Point. Don Tigre takes over a restaurant space in Anthem House that was previously Taco Mama.

Neel Kamal, a partner of the former Taco Mama, brought on Oscar Rodriguez last week to run the day-to-day operations at Don Tigre. Rodriguez is a native of Mexico and owns La Cabana Restaurant in Southeast Baltimore. He and his wife got their start running a taco cart, and he said running a restaurant like Don Tigre is his dream. Their children are part of the Don Tigre team as well.

Rodriguez created a new menu with a focus on tacos, burritos, enchiladas, nachos, birria, Mexican sandwiches called tortas, and a Mexican take on burgers. Every table starts out with homemade chips and salsa with an option to order guacamole made at the guacamole bar.

Protein options for the different Mexican dishes include al pastor pork, beef tongue, steak, chicken, shrimp, and fried fish.

Don Tigre has a kids menu featuring a quesadilla, as well as the American classics of chicken tenders and a burger.

Rodriguez said there is a focus on fresh and homemade ingredients at Don Tigre.

The bar features margaritas, a variety of Mexican cocktails, tequilas, mezcals, Mexican beers, and Mexican sodas, such as Jarritos.

Don Tigre is open every day for lunch and dinner.

The Rodriguez family said they are excited to be in Locust Point and become active members of the community.
