‘Burlington’ Now Open at the Inner Harbor

Burlington, which was long-known as Burlington Coat Factory before shortening its name, opened last week in a 34,000 sq. ft. space at Lockwood Place at 600 E. Pratt St. across from the Inner Harbor. Burlington takes over a third-story space that was has been vacant since Best Buy left in 2012.

Burlington describes itself as a “national discount retailer offering low prices every day on brand name merchandise for the entire family and home.” This is the 23rd Burlington location in Maryland.

Lockwood Place is also home to a number of other tenants, including Fogo De Chao Brazilian Steakhouse, IHOP, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Marshalls, Popeyes, and Mount Everest Restaurant & Bar.

Burlington is a first-rate national retailer, and we are ecstatic that they chose Lockwood Place as their location,” said Ken Bernstein, senior vice president of retail leasing for David S. Brown Enterprises, in a June 2023 press release announcing the lease. “This is very meaningful for the Central Business District and the revival that is so evident in Baltimore City. I am looking forward to welcoming Burlington and supporting their continued growth and success. Our team has put a lot of effort into this partnership, and we are glad to finally see it come to fruition.”

“Our goal is to continue to offer communities low prices on brand name merchandise for the entire family and home,” said Michael O’Sullivan, CEO of Burlington Stores, in a press release last year. “We’re continuing to expand our footprint across the country and are excited to be opening a new store in Baltimore. We look forward to giving local customers the chance to discover big savings on a wide range of products.”

The opening of Burlington comes amidst a number of changes to the retail landscape at the Inner Harbor. The Gallery Mall shuttered in 2022 and the Harborplace pavilions, which have brought on some temporary tenants, are slated for demolition in the coming years to make way for a development by MCB Real Estate.
