Orioles Owner David Rubenstein to Fill in for Mr. Splash on Friday

New Baltimore Orioles Owner David Rubenstein definitely has a passion for creative marketing. He was recently in a video featuring Orioles Co-Owner and Former Orioles Hall of Fame Shortstop Cal Ripken, Jr. “working” in the infield at Oriole Park at Camden Yards; starred in another video as a DJ cranking Orioles Magic alongside the Oriole Bird; and, today, was featured in yet another video dressed as Mr. Splash announcing he’ll be the guest splasher at this Friday’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Baltimore Native and Carlyle Group Co-Founder Rubenstein took over as controlling owner of the Orioles right before the start of this season, a season in which the Orioles currently have the best record in the American League.

Mr. Splash was created last season by the Orioles and was inspired by the Orioles players’ water-themed celebrations after extra-base hits. Mr. Splash sprays water on the fans seated in Section 86, which is also now known as the Bird Bath.

Guest splashers have included Adam Jones, Ben McDonald, and Governor Wes Moore.

The first 20,000 fans 15 and over at Oriole Park on Friday will receive a Mr. Splash bobblehead as part of the Orioles special promotion.
