Greater Baybrook Alliance to Open Office in Former Brooklyn Bank

The Greater Baybrook Alliance (GBA) is opening an office at 3601 S. Hanover St. in Brooklyn using funds from a $1-million federal grant. GBA purchased the 3,889 sq. ft. building, which was formerly a Bank of America, last year for $417,500.

GBA shared the news on social media today:

Congressman Kweisi Mfume (MD-07) announced $13,716,279 in Community Project Funding he secured for Maryland’s 7th Congressional District in the 2024 federal government spending bills.

GBA is thrilled to announce we received $1,000,000 to redevelop 3601 South Hanover Street, at the intersection of Brooklyn’s commercial corridors, into a permanent office space!

The renovated space will provide training and technical assistance to residents and local entrepreneurs. Additionally, the project will anchor economic and community development activities in the region, increasing accessibility to the community. This newly transformed property will anchor neighborhood revitalization. In addition, it will contribute to GBA’s Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) program to transform vacant problem properties in the adjacent blocks into positive reuse that contributes to the community’s safety and vitality.

GBA is “a non-profit community development organization whose mission is to act as a catalyst and conduit for equitable development and reinvestment in the Brooklyn, Brooklyn Park, and Curtis Bay neighborhoods and empower our residents to strengthen the Baybrook community.”

A block from GBA’s future office, the South Baltimore 7 Coalition (SB7) is opening its office at 205 E. Patapsco Ave. This organization represents seven South Baltimore communities and was created from a community benefits agreement with the Baltimore Peninsula development.
