Baltimore Peninsula press release:

Today, the Baltimore Peninsula development team, led by MAG Partners and MacFarlane Partners, in partnership with Sagamore Ventures and the Urban Investment Group within Goldman Sachs Asset Management, announced the return of Club Volo and its full 2024 Summer at Baltimore Peninsula events lineup. The schedule features local favorites such as Whiskey on the Waterfront and Outdoor Movie Nights and new events including the Baltimore Food Truck Festival and the Collective Minds Festival. Summer at Baltimore Peninsula is expected to attract thousands of attendees this season. CFG Bank and Baltimore Peninsula Partnership, the neighborhood’s CBD, are presenting sponsors of Summer at Baltimore Peninsula, in addition to sponsorship from Republic Services.

“Following the success of Baltimore Peninsula’s seasonal programming last year, we’re incredibly excited to offer an array of both tried-and-true and brand-new events this summer season,” said MaryAnne Gilmartin, Founder and CEO of MAG Partners. “We welcome all to come out and beat the heat by the waterfront– whether you’re an athlete, a foodie or a music-lover, there’ll be something for everyone!”

“As we saw last year, summer at Baltimore Peninsula is not one to miss and this year is going to be even better,” said Erik Howard, President of CFG. “With Baltimore Peninsula being home to our new headquarters, it’s exciting to be able to support this incredible array of summer activities for so many across Baltimore and the region to experience. We can’t wait to enjoy this lineup of events right in our backyard.”

At Club Volo, which first opened last year on Baltimore Peninsula’s waterfront, a selection of sporting leagues and other recreational activities will be offered including beach volleyball, pickleball, bocce, kickball, soccer and flag football. Visitors will also be able to enjoy activities like cornhole, as well as food and beverage options and live music events.

“If you’re a long-time Volo player or it’s your first time playing – now is the time to get involved with sports at Club Volo at Baltimore Peninsula,” said Giovanni Marcantoni, Founder of Volo. “Our partnership with Baltimore Peninsula not only allows our teams an incredible space to play in but it’s also been a tremendous source of support for our partner nonprofit, Volo Kids. We’re so excited for our next season here in the neighborhood.”

Club Volo will be hosting a new Thursday 21+ happy hour, featuring music, drinks and food provided by local Baltimore restaurants. Adult leagues– alongside friends and family– are welcome to play games such as flip cup while enjoying the waterfront views.

Volo Kids– founded in Baltimore City in 2015 as a response to civil unrest sparked by racial inequities across the city– was created to use sport as a tool for healing and a means of uniting communities. Volo Kids will utilize Club Volo for free kids programs, with a specific focus on engaging those in the communities of Brooklyn, Cherry Hill, Curtis Bay, Lakeland, Mt. Winans and Westport as a part of Baltimore Peninsula’s continued commitment to uplifting the South Baltimore region.

Club Volo’s programming at Baltimore Peninsula includes:

“The Baltimore Peninsula Partnership is proud to sponsor the summer events season with Baltimore Peninsula,” said Claudia Jolin, Executive Director of the Baltimore Peninsula Partnership. “The Baltimore Peninsula team continues to excel at bringing excellent summer programming such as Tides and Vibes, fitness, and music that promotes community engagement, celebrates local culture, and supports small businesses. Together, we aim to create vibrant, inclusive experiences that showcase the unique spirit of our neighborhood.”

Following a successful 2023 season, Simone Phillips of the acclaimed Charm City Table will return to curate unique, local food and beverage options for Outdoor Movie Nights on the second Friday of every month through October. Baltimore Peninsula continues to develop an array of dynamic dining options available both throughout the summer and year-round. In June, the project is anticipating the reopening of Rye Street Tavern by DC-based Clyde’s Restaurant Group, and later in the year, Baltimore Peninsula will welcome restaurateur Pinky Cole’s Slutty Vegan and Bar Vegan concepts to the neighborhood.

“I am very excited to be back at Baltimore Peninsula this summer for the second year supporting Outdoor Movie Nights,” said Simone Phillips of Charm City Table. “This is a dream project for me because of the ability to support local businesses, connect with amazing people, and show off our beautiful city.”
