The Ravens Unveil New Purple Helmet

| June 18, 2024 | 0 Comments

For the first time in many years, the Ravens will wear a different helmet starting this coming 2024 season. The Ravens will take a break from their black helmet with the side-profile bird with a “B” logo for one game and wear a purple helmet with the team’s front-facing bird logo. The purple helmet, dubbed ‘Purple Rising,’ will be part of the Ravens ‘Color Rush’ uniforms featuring purple jerseys and pants.

The Ravens unveiled the new helmet today on the team’s website and social media accounts, as well as posted videos showing players getting a first look.

The Purple Rising helmet has a gold face mask, a matte purple finish, two gold stripes, and the bird logo.

On “The Lounge” podcast, Senior Vice President of Marketing Brad Downs detailed the lengthy process that went into making the new helmets become reality. Many designs were considered, and Downs is pleased with the result.

“We pay attention to all of that feedback from the fans, to really try to land on something they’re going to love,” Downs said. “I’ve been waiting for this day for a long time. We know our fans have clamored for it. They just like new stuff. But our uniforms have a nice traditional feel and we’ve had a lot success in them. We don’t want to be that team that changes all the time. We like the tradition that we’ve built.

“We’ve thought about this for years. I think I had at least 14 options of helmets, and that doesn’t even include swapping decals, locals, stripes. We narrowed it down to two, and this is the direction that we went.”

While the Ravens constantly change up the color combinations between the black, white, and purple jerseys and pants, this is the first time the Ravens have worn a different helmet since 1998 when the team’s helmet logo had a “B” with wings.
