CHX and Easy Like Sunday Open at McHenry Row in Locust Point

McHenry Row in Locust Point now has two new restaurants as CHX and Easy Like Sunday opened last week. CHX takes over a space at 1724 Whetstone Way that was formerly Fat Patties and World of Beer in recent years. Easy Like Sunday is now open in the former Iron Rooster space.

CHX is a concept from longtime friends Shawn Edwards and Frederick Huballa in partnership with ITA Group Holdings, the owners of the former Fat Patties and the parent company of The Greene Turtle.

CHX has its own house-recipe for its hand-made chicken tenders that come in three-, four-, and six-piece tender combos. The combos come with crinkle Cajun fries, Cajun vinaigrette slaw, a honey buttermilk biscuit, and CHX Sauce. CHX partnered with Kneads, H&S Bakery’s retail bakery and cafe, on the biscuits.

Edwards described CHX Sauce as “a great everything sauce that goes well with chicken and fries.”

The restaurant also offer sandwiches with house pickles, as well as ice cream sundaes.

While CHX does not offer as many tap beer options as Fat Patties and World of Beer, it will have 20 different drinks on tap including beer and pre-made cocktails. CHX  also sells craft lemonade including regular, Purple Reign with blueberry and mint, and a strawberry basil mixture.

Customers order on kiosks, but there is also service. There are 10 television on the interior of CHX.

CHX has also opened the outdoor patio at the retail space.

CHX is open everyday from 10am to 10pm.

Easy like Sunday is a breakfast and brunch restaurant in an approximately 5,000 sq. ft. space at 1606 Whetstone Way.

Easy Like Sunday opened its first restaurant in Charlotte, NC in 2020 and a second restaurant at Cross Keys in Roland Park in March 2023.

Co-owner Anna MacCuish, a Baltimore native, started the restaurant with husband Sean MacCuish. The couple moved to Baltimore to be closer to Anna MacCuish’s family after having kids. They have since sold the Charlotte location.

The MacCuishes partnered with Antonios Kokolis on the Baltimore locations.

Anna MacCuish grew up in the restaurant business as her family owns G&A Restaurant, which was in Highlandtown for many years before recently relocating to White Marsh. Sean MacCuish is an executive chef from Southern California.

The MacCuishes were drawn to the brunch concept as they knew the hours would be conducive to spending time with their family every evening. They were inspired by many great brunch restaurants in Southern California and love that brunch takes cues from many different styles of cuisine.

Easy Like Sunday has simple breakfast dishes such as two eggs, potatoes, and meat; pancakes; yogurt parfaits; and avocado toast. It also has more adventurous and filling options such as shrimp and grits; a fried chicken sandwich; fried chicken with corn meal pancakes; a breakfast burrito; and a ricotta-stuffed French toast. They’ve also worked popular local dishes into the menu including a crab melt, a Reuben, and a lox platter.

Easy Like Sunday offers coffee, espresso, and lattes using Ceremony Coffee beans; a mimosa menu; and cocktails such as a bloody mary, espresso martini, and spicy margarita.

Anna MacCuish, Sean MacCuish, and Kokolis were drawn to the space at McHenry Row after it was vacated by Iron Rooster. They like that it is located at a different end of the city from the Cross Keys location.

On adding a second Baltimore location, Kokolis said, “It was sooner than we were anticipating, but we’ve had so much support from Baltimore. Without the customer support, we don’t think we could’ve moved so quickly.”

The bar seating from Iron Rooster was reduced and a new outdoor seating area was built in front of restaurant and THB Bagelry + Deli.

Easy Like Sunday is open 8am to 3pm.
