White Oak Hospitality, which owns Banditos Tacos & Tequila, Ditos Tacos & Tequila, and Wayward Bar & Kitchen, will take over the Mother’s space at 1113 S. Charles St. in Federal Hill after it closes on January 19th. This news was first reported by Baltimore Business Journal.
White Oak has seen significant growth in recent years. Banditos started out as a taco carryout shop, eventually acquired a liquor license, and has since expanded as the business now occupies three Federal Hill storefronts.
Banditos also now has locations in White Marsh, Towson, Maple Lawn, Columbia, Fairfax, and Arlington. The Federal Hill location now goes as Ditos.
White Oak took over C&R Pub in 2016 and rebranded it to Wayward. It is located at 1117 S. Charles St. next door to Mother’s. Wayward expanded in recent years, adding an outdoor dining space to a former vacant lot.
Sean White, CEO of White Oak, confirmed to Baltimore Business Journal they have plans for the Mother’s space, but declined to offer more details.
Mother’s renovated and expanded several times over the years and has multiple spaces to host private parties. The interior features a main dining room and bar, an upstairs bar and dining room, and a large bar in the back of the building. Along with the Purple Patio parking lot and outdoor space, Mother’s has multiple outdoor seating areas.
Mother’s has been open in Federal Hill for 27 years. Prior to taking over the S. Charles St. space in 1997, Mother’s was the home of Muhly’s Bakery.
Mother’s, along with bars such as Ropewalk and MaGerks, were instrumental in the rebirth of the bar scene in Federal Hill in the late 1990s and early 2000s
Mother’s has locations in Arnold and Timonium that will remain open.
