Join the Union Square neighborhood for its 33rd Annual Christmas Cookie Tour which will be held on December 9th from 12noon until 4:00pm and starts at 1401 Hollins.  Over 25 homes within the historic neighborhood will open their doors offering a homemade cookie at each stop.  This year we will bake over 14,000 cookies! Each ticket includes a booklet with each cookie recipe you will savor.

New Playground Piece Inspired by a 19th Century B&O Train is Coming to Federal Hill Park

South Harbor Renaissance (SHR) is in the midst of a final fundraising push to raise money for a piece to complete the historic-themed playground at Federal Hill Park. The “Campaign for the Train” will fund a custom-designed toddler playground installation inspired by a 19th Century train from the B&O Railroad.

Police Jacket from The Wire Nets $3,350 at Thomas Johnson Silent Auction

The jacket was donated by The Wire creator David Simon and his author wife Laura Lippman, who are Baltimore residents. It was worn by English actor Dominic West in Season 2 of The Wire. Simon joked on Twitter that the jacket still had his scent.

Due to unexpected repairs, the Riverside Park Pool did not open its doors this year until August 11th. But, Baltimore Recreation and Parks has now agreed to keep the pool open an additional two weeks until September 16th. The pool was scheduled to close on September 3rd.

The Riverside Park Pool is expected to open this weekend following multiple repairs. Baltimore City Recreation and Parks was originally scheduled to open the South Baltimore pool on June 23rd but water flooded into the basement pump room when the pool was filled, leading to a series of needed repairs.

Under Armour partnered with Heart of America Foundation and worked the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Ruppert Landscape, Mahan Rykiel, Herring Run Nursery, Site One, IMPACT Fitness Consulting, and United Rentals on the initiative.

$1.05-Million Community Center in Sharp-Leadenhall Breaks Ground

An official groundbreaking took place last week for the Leadenhall Community Center which will be built in a lot adjacent to the Leadenhall Baptist Church at 1021 Leadenhall St. in Sharp-Leadenhall. The 2,400 sq. ft., $1,050,000 facility is part of Caves Valley Partners (CVP) Stadium Square redevelopment project.
