Community Cookout to Support Steuart Hill Academic Academy on Thursday at Union Square Park

The SAVESHAA Coalition announced that they will host a Community Cookout on Thursday, March 16th from 2:30-5:30pm to promote joy and celebrate Steuart Hill Academic Academy (slated to close June 2023) during a hard time for the school and its families and students. The cookout will be held in Union Square Park directly across from SHAA and will have cookout food and drink, activities for kids and a space to celebrate.

A four-alarm fire last Monday damaged seven commercial buildings, three of which are now demolished, on the 1500 block of W. Baltimore St. in Union Square. Three of the four remaining buildings that still stand are part of project to bring Ethiopian restaurant Jabena and six apartments to the block. That project at 1515 to 1519 W. Baltimore St. is still moving forward.

On Monday afternoon, Baltimore City Fire Department (BCFD) was on the scene of a four-alarm fire on the 1500 block of W. Baltimore St. in Union Square which damaged seven commercial buildings. Of the seven, a partial collapse occurred in three of the buildings and one building fully collapsed. BCFD reported no injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
