100-Acres of Property Available at the North Locust Point Marine Terminal
Maryland Department of Transportation’s Port Administration (MPA) has put out a Request for Information (RFI) for approximately 100 acres of available real estate at the North Locust Point Marine Terminal (NLP), which is part of the Port of Baltimore. The property is along the Inner Harbor, stretching from Hull St. to the west and Wallace St. to the east.

Mayorga Organics Relocating from Rockville to 120,000 Sq. Ft. Building in Pigtown
Mayorga Organics, a coffee, chia, quinoa, and beans importer and manufacturer based in Rockville, is moving its Maryland operations to a 120,000 sq. ft. building at 901 W. Ostend St. in Carroll-Camden Industrial Area/Pigtown. Mayorga Organics will purchase the one-story building on March 16th and begin a two-year renovation of the building.

Baltimore City Community College (BCCC) is looking for a developer to partner with to turn its defunct Bard Building in Downtown into a parking lot. The developer would demolish the building and build a parking lot in its place.

The Domino Sugars Sign Goes Dark – For Now
On Monday, the lights on the iconic Domino Sugars sign in Locust Point were turned off. Domino Sugar is replacing its nearly 70-year-old neon sign that lights up the Inner Harbor with a new LED version. Preliminary work on the approximately $2-million project has been underway in recent weeks, and demolition of the existing letters on the sign began early this week. The new sign will be lit for the first time on the 4th of July.

Touring the Progress at Groundwork Kitchen in Pigtown
Construction is wrapping up on Groundwork Kitchen, the $6.1-million, almost 15,000 sq. ft. culinary arts training center, restaurant, and carryout shop at 925 Washington Blvd. in Pigtown. This is a project by Paul’s Place which as been a part of the Pigtown community for 36 years.

An eclectic house located at 1242 Battery Ave. in Federal Hill is getting its share of internet attention as it has been featured on the popular Instagram account Zillow Gone Wild. The house is currently listed for $269,900 and has been under contract twice already, according to listing agent Derek Blazer of Cummings and Co.

European Wine Importer ‘Wide Roots’ Launched in South Baltimore
Riverside resident Russ Lorber launched his wine import company Wide Roots late-last year. Wide Roots, which has an office at Spaces in Stadium Square and has a warehouse in Upper Marlboro, has a small portfolio of boutique Italian wines it is selling to restaurants and liquor stores around Maryland.

Federal Hill Main Street and Pigtown Main Street are among the 41 main street programs across the state that will receive funding from the State of Maryland. Governor Larry Hogan today announced $7 million in awards for these programs.

A new gym called SOBO Strength and Performance will open at 1104 Hull St. in Locust Point. The 4,500 sq. ft., two-story brick building was previously the home of the International Longshoremen’s Association AFL-CIO which relocated to Dundalk.
