The South Baltimore Gateway Partnership Announces More Than $600,000 in Community Grants

Last week, the South Baltimore Gateway Partnership (SBGP) announced $603,930 in new grants to support 26 community projects in South and Southwest Baltimore neighborhoods. Nearly a third of the recipients are new grantees. SBGP is a nonprofit which manages half of South Baltimore’s casino Local Impact Grants.

Dutch architecture firm West 8 received the highest ranking in the Middle Branch Waterfront design competition. The City of Baltimore will begin contract negotiations with West 8 as part of its planning for a phased, multi-year design and construction project for the 11-mile-plus park system along the shoreline of the Patapsco River in South Baltimore.

Federal Hill Main Street Launches Daily Street Cleaning, Adds Cross Street String Lighting, and Begins Sidewalk Repairs

Federal Hill Main Street (FHMS) is taking on a number of new initiatives in the neighborhood that are mostly being funded by grants from the South Baltimore Gateway Partnership (SBGP). These include a new five-day-a-week street cleaning crew, string lighting along the unit block of E. Cross St., sidewalk repairs and power washing, and new plantings around the business district.

19th Century B&O Railroad-Themed Toddler Train Opens at Federal Hill Park

SHR’s “Campaign for the Train” raised $55,000 for foundation work and the newest playground piece that replicates a B&O engine and dining car. The green and gray piece features a slide and areas for toddlers to climb and sit. The train was designed and built by Playground Specialists.

An Improved Riverside Park Pool Opens This Saturday

The swim season is already off to a much different start for Riverside Park Pool this year. Last year, due to a gate valve failure that led to electrical damage, the pool didn’t open until August 11th. This year the pool will open almost three months earlier and visitors will notice several new improvements thanks to a $49,500 grant from the South Baltimore Gateway Partnership (SBGP) and a volunteer effort

Grant and Volunteer Initiative to Bring Improvements to Riverside Park Pool This Year

Improvements are coming to Riverside Park Pool this summer thanks to a $49,500 grant from the South Baltimore Gateway Partnership (SBGP) and a volunteer effort from Riverside Neighborhood Association and residents in the South Baltimore community. The initiative is being called “Splash City Riverside Pool” and will be a multi-year project following this first round of improvements.
