Vehicle Brings Adoptable Dogs and Cats to Every Corner of Baltimore

chickie1Baltimore, MD –The Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS) announces the launch of their new 26-foot long mobile pet adoption vehicle. Made possible by a generous donation from a private foundation, the mobile vehicle will bring adoptable animals from the shelter throughout Baltimore to help them find loving homes in the neighborhoods where people live, work, and play, by visiting large businesses and residential communities, plus attend many local outdoor festivals and events.

As part of its mission to save lives and promote responsible pet ownership for a more humane community in Baltimore City, BARCS will host off-site adoption events at a variety of Baltimore-area locations to introduce pets to potential adopters. “With this amazing new vehicle we will be able to take more animals out in the community to meet potential adopters. When people have the opportunity to meet dogs and cats outside the shelter environment, it is easier for them to get to know them in a more personal way,” says Jennifer Brause, executive director.

The BARCS adoption vehicle will make its public debut on August 20-22, when it will be at BARCS for tours between 2-4pm, before it takes to the road the following week to visit our adoption partners: Pet Valu and Petco, along with City Hall, Canton Crossing and White Marsh Mall and other Baltimore locations.

BARCS will be holding a “name the adoption vehicle” contest on their Facebook page, BARCS.Animal.Shelter, from September 25- October 1. The person with the winning name will win a pair of tickets to the BARCS Crab Feast on September 12.

The vehicle was acquired thanks to a substantial grant from the Stanton Foundation, a New York based foundation created by Dr. Frank Stanton, a media pioneer and lifelong dog owner and admirer.
