Major Ian Dombroski Promoted, Captain Brian Hance Named Southern District Major

PoliceInterim Baltimore Police Commissioner Kevin Davis announced changes to the Baltimore Police Department on Sunday that included moves in the Southern District. Major Ian Dombroski, who was promoted from Acting District Commander to District Commander in April of last year, has been promoted to Acting Lieutenant Colonel and Area 3 Commander. He will be overseeing the Western, Southern, and Southwestern Districts.

Captain Brian Hance received a promotion to Major as the Southern District’s new District Commander.

Under the leadership of Major Dombroski, South Baltimore’s District 4, which includes the neighborhoods of Otterbein, Sharp-Leadenhall, Federal Hill, Federal Hill South, South Baltimore Neighborhood, Riverside, Locust Point, Ridgely’s Delight, Stadium Area, Port Covington, and portions of Barre Circle, experienced a 9% decrease in crime in 2013 and 2014.

The Southern District, which includes the South Baltimore Peninsula, Pigtown, SoWeBo, Cherry Hill, Curtis Bay, Morrell Park, and areas around Middle Branch, experienced a 7% crime decrease in 2014.
